Camerata Aristoteles

Camerata Aristoteles was founded at the beginning of 2011 for the needs of the institution “Aristotle” and its first appearances were limited to performances at the archeological site of the ancient Stageira, the birthplace of Aristotle. The ensemble’s name followed the tradition of small music groups within the old European music, such as ‘orchestra da camera’ combined with Greek culture.

In the short period of its existence the ensemble has collaborated with artists such as Manolis Mitsias and Grigoris Valtinos in the work “Axion Esti” by Mikis Theodorakis. Further, the Camerata Aristoteles has worked with Maria Farantouri and others. At the same time, the chamber orchestra has been invited by the Athens- and Thessaloniki Concert Halls respectively. The ensemble’s programmes include recordings, videos and performances in various Greek cities and abroad.

Promotion of Greek word music

Camerata Aristoteles has collaborated with the vocal ensemble “en horo” and the New Choir of Kalamaria Municipality, performing works from the classical and Greek repertoires at the anniversary events of several municipalities. Secondly, it has collaborated with the choirs of Arnaia, Stageiron-Akanthou, M. Panagias and Palaiohoriou in events such as the New Year’s Concert (2012, Ierissos), Music Day (June, 2012) and Christmas (2013, Arnaia and Thessaloniki). Further, the ensemble performs regularly with the Concerto Quartet: at Ancient Stageira, the Monastery of Zygos and in many Northern Greek cities. Since 2014 Camerata Aristoteles has been playing in Thessaloniki and the region, the Olympus festival and “para thin’ alos” festival, the ancient theatre of Dion, Palataki in Kalamaria, etc.

Our goal is promoting the Greek lyrical music culture as well as Greek composers.
